An Embedded PMO is a program management office function provided by Assured Velocity resource working inside your organization rather than from the outside. It combines the rigour and independence of external governance with the contextual knowledge and relationships of an internal function.
An Embedded PMO brings a team with proven methodology, tools, and experience across multiple programs. It is operational from day one without a learning curve, and it brings an independent perspective that an internal hire - who may be reluctant to challenge senior stakeholders - sometimes cannot.
Day-to-day activities include: maintaining program plans and status, facilitating steering committee meetings, tracking risks and issues, managing program financials, coordinating workstream leads, producing board reporting, and providing challenge and support to program delivery teams.
When the program portfolio has three or more workstreams with material interdependencies, when the program has a board or investor audience that requires regular formal reporting, when the internal team does not have the PMO capability to manage the governance overhead, or when the program has a history of governance failures.
We work alongside internal resource and invest in developing internal PMO capability throughout the engagement. The exit plan is agreed at the outset - including the internal capability milestones that indicate the organization is ready to operate the PMO function independently.
We use standard industry tools - Microsoft Project, Jira, Confluence, and a range of reporting platforms - and adapt to the client's existing toolset where appropriate. Our methodology draws on PRINCE2, MSP, and agile delivery frameworks calibrated to the specific program context.
