Take the Survey →Many businesses know something is off, but not where the real drag sits. Revenue may be growing while delivery, reporting, systems, or decision-making quietly become the bottleneck. This survey surfaces that clearly and points you towards the right next step.
It is the right starting point before any diagnostic, advisory engagement, or fractional leadership conversation. Most organisations that complete it find at least one surprise in the results.

Book a Scoping CallThe Velocity Readiness Survey is a structured self-assessment that identifies the profit constraints inside your business - the specific operational, technology, people, and process bottlenecks that are limiting your organisation's performance. It covers seven themes drawn from our diagnostic work across mid-market businesses and benchmarks your position against comparable organisations at a similar stage of growth.
It is designed for leaders of mid-market businesses - typically £5m to £250m revenue - who want an honest view of where operational constraints are limiting performance. It is particularly useful for leaders preparing for a growth phase, a funding round, an acquisition, or a period of significant change, as well as those who sense that something is holding the business back but have not yet identified exactly what.
You receive a personalised report scoring your business across the seven readiness themes, identifying your highest-priority profit constraints, and providing specific recommendations for each constraint. The report is not generic - it reflects your answers and benchmarks your scores against the range we see across similar businesses. You also receive a follow-up offer to discuss the findings with a senior partner at no cost.
The seven themes are: leadership and decision-making, financial rigour and management information, operational processes and efficiency, technology capability and integration, people and change management, programme and project delivery, and strategic clarity. Each theme contains a set of diagnostic questions calibrated to identify the specific failure modes most common in mid-market businesses at each stage of development.
Yes. The survey is completely free and there is no obligation to engage further. We offer it because it generates useful insight for you and because a well-informed conversation about your specific situation is more productive for both parties than a generic discovery call. You will not receive a sales call as a result of completing it unless you specifically request one.
Most people complete it in 15 to 20 minutes. The questions are direct and do not require you to look anything up - they are designed to draw on your existing knowledge of your business. You can complete it in one sitting or return to it. The quality of the report improves if you answer honestly rather than optimistically.
The benchmarks are drawn from our diagnostic work across mid-market businesses in the UK across manufacturing, logistics, financial services, professional services, property and FM, and technology sectors. They are not derived from published surveys or academic research - they reflect patterns we have observed directly in operational diagnostic and transformation work. The most useful comparator is businesses at a similar revenue scale and growth stage, not sector averages.
You receive your personalised report immediately. If you want to discuss the findings, you can book a complimentary 45-minute call with a senior partner who will have reviewed your report before the call. There is no obligation to proceed further. If the discussion identifies a clear problem that warrants deeper investigation, we will propose a structured diagnostic engagement - but only if it is genuinely warranted.
A profit constraint is any operational, people, technology, or process factor that is preventing your business from generating the margin it should be capable of at its current scale. The term comes from constraint theory applied to business performance rather than production throughput. Common examples include management information that is too slow or unreliable to support good decisions, operational processes that create cost without adding value, and technology systems that limit rather than enable the business.
The survey is designed to be completed by an internal leader who has direct knowledge of the business. If you are an accountancy partner, PE operating partner, or advisor completing it as a proxy, the scores will reflect your external view rather than the internal leadership perspective - which is useful context but will produce a different result. For a portfolio company or client assessment, it is more valuable if the CEO or COO completes it directly, or if we run a facilitated version as part of a structured diagnostic.
